New Study Supports New Type Of Acupuncture As Arthritis Treatment

Acupuncture, the ancient treatment used to remedy a laundry list of conditions, was recently put to the test in 63 patients with Rheumatoid arthritis.

In this study of 63 subjects, the volunteers were split into 2 groups. One received traditional acupuncture while the other received a form of acupuncture where small electrical currents flow through the needles.

After 10 treatments, the researchers looked at the blood of the volunteers to investigate changes in inflammatory markers. They found that electroacupuncture was effective as lowering two key contributors to RA, known as TNF-? and VEGF, compared to standard acupuncture.
