(Not So) Surprising Cholesterol News About Eggs

Researchers at the University of Connecticut have made the day of egg-lovers who have had to cut back on eggs because of cholesterol problems.

High cholesterol sufferers have been told for decades to reduce or even eliminate the eggs they ingest, but recent research might bust the egg-cholesterol myth right out of the water.

The study focused on how changing the diets of participants with metabolic syndrome to a low carbohydrate, protein-rich regimen would affect the collection of symptoms of the syndrome, which include high LDL (bad) cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and more.

Participants included a lot of eggs in their new diet plans and the results were very encouraging. Even though eggs might raise the total cholesterol levels of someone eating them, it is believed to be because of the increase in HDL (good) cholesterol.

The low-carb, high protein diet was shown to improve all areas of concern for most of the participants in the study.
